Projects seeking initial feedback from the MBTA on their proposals, enabling them to integrate any feedback or requirements into their project design. Ensures alignment with MBTA guidelines and interests.

Conduct environmental assessments on MBTA property. The MBTA requires a thorough justification for the proposed environmental testing as part of the application submission.

Includes subsurface investigations aimed at assessing the geological and geotechnical properties.

Access to MBTA property for bridge evaluations.

Conduct surveys along the right of way on MBTA property, including MBTA tracks and tunnel locations. It encompasses various survey methods, including topographic surveys, visual surveys, LiDar surveys, and others.

Explanation of Fees Due

Administrative Fee – $1,000 to be submitted with application

License Fee – Minimum annual fee of $1,000 for standard licenses and $5000 for telecommunication and utility licenses. To be paid at the time of license execution.

Space Requirements

Please upload a site plan that outlines the requirements for the size and configuration of the proposed license area. Plans submitted to the MBTA for review must show all property lines, structures, and the MBTA Zone of Influence (ZOI). Your plan must clearly indicate both the limits of the MBTA right-of-way (ROW) and the distance from the tracks, as well as any improvements therein. An example is shown below.
